Interactive Learning

There's this BEYOND AMAZING website www.TheTeachersGuide.com for 1-3rd grade! Ive used their resources last year when teaching first grade and this year I was moved to 2nd grade and thank god, I'm able to use their resources once again. The website covers majority everything From grammar to break down of Themes, units and weeks! So far, I have yet to find anything that I'm missing. Here is a sneak peek of a few interactive grammar activites I've printed, lamented and turning into games! The students love it!

It's all about BOOK IT this year!!!

My students weren't encouraged to read everyday so a coworker of mine told me about Book-It! It's a reading incentive program through Pizza Hut. every month the students are able to earn a FREE personal pan pizza if they complete a weekly reading log. Visit pizzahut/bookit.com for more details. I used it last year and it was amazing. Can't wait to bring it back to my classroom this year!!!
I also add a small reading goal certificate to make it twice as rewarding to read!!!

Open House Fun.......Pinterest made me do it!!!!!

Have you scrolled on Pinterest and thought to yourself "how can I NOT NOT do that?!?!" Yup! That was me. And that how I ended up making these lovely edible oysters and mini cheesy sea star sandwiches for open house, which happen to match PERFECTLY with my classroom theme!!!
I would also like to thank Dr. Sanchez for giving back to the kids. He donated these toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwash. Awesome! Blossom!!!!

Ms. Singh's Open House 2015

So this year I wanted to do something a little different For open house since I have the same students from last year. I've decided to prepare a "Parent Survival Kit" as a small token of appreciation to my students parents. The parents have truly helped and supported me a great deal last year. I found a few ideas on Pinterest and added a few of my own. This is the poem
And these are the items I used

Remind.....The best communication tool to use in the classroom!!!!

I first learned about Remind or Remind101 from last year SDE Confernce in Vegas. I used it with my parents this year and I worked AMAZINGLY! Remind is a free, safe, and easy to use communication tool that helps teachers connect instantly with students and parents. Whether a teacher is sending a fun filled class picture or reminding parents tomorrow is a field trip, Remind is conveintient and safe. You can also send personal messages to "a" parent or as a group. Now, remind has been updated where parents can chat and communicate back and forth within the app! Phone numbers are always kept private, teachers are NOT using their personal numbers and information is safe and secure. Teachers, students and parents have easy access to their message history and can also use reporting tools to flag conversations. I use it all the time and parents LOVE to brag to their families and coworkers, "My child's teacher sends me a text message AND email to keep us updated!" Here are some of my remind messages!!!
Here is a group message from our first class field trip to the zoo!
And moments from our filled field day

Can't forget Photo Booth Fun at the Blogger Meet Up! Thank you SDE, GoNoodle, Educents, Scentos, and Venetian for the amazing experience! See you next year!

Vegas! Vegas! and MORE Vegas!

Words cannot express such gratitude and love that was shared during this week! Attending The SDE 1st Grade National Conference for the second year in a row was more than thrilling! From meeting new fellow bloggers, to learning new strategies for my classroom, and hands on activities, I surely can't wait for next year! Last year I attended as a solo teacher, this year Miami Teachers surely left their mark and can't wait to retreat more educators to represent Florida next year!
As I sat in my first session-Cara Carroll-of course, I thought to myself what an amazing educator. Cara's session was filled with sooo much takeaways I can't wait to create my own and use within my own classroom! She is beyond inspirational and definitely can relate to her classroom strategies and teachings.
As Cara's session ended, I saw a guy run up to her asking to take a picture with her! My curiosity quickly told me to search on Instagram!LoL I quickly came to realize it was non of the other than Mr. Famous in First! My girls and I ran into him during our lunch break where I tapped him on his shoulder and said, "I know YOU!" (via Instagram) He laughed and said, "Yes! I saw you replied to my IG post" It was amazing meeting you Mr. Famous in First!
Other bloggers which I was beyond excited to meet: Ms. Kindergarten Chaos herself! Who we followed on IG and literally YELLED in the middle of the lobby for her! Which we won some of her FREEBIES!!! Thank you! It was fun hunting you down!
AND of course! Mr. Smorgie and his Mr!!!! Forever amazing and awe so humble!
I would also like to thank Educents for providing us with exclusive freebies and educational tools!
Couldn't leave without snapping a pic with Ms. CEO of Educents
Ms. Hope King from Elementary Shenanigans (so funny and down to Earth)
We also found Ms. GlitterMeetsGlue who provided us with exclusive USB filled with freebies!
AND saved the best for last (not calling favors....but....) Yours truly Ms.Deedee Wills & Mrs. Deana Jump
