Halloween Treat Kabob!

Halloween Treat Kabob!
The students create their own sweet treat kabob and of course write about it. Once they are finished putting their treats on their stick they write "First I put the ........on the stick. Second I put a ......on the stick". They complete their sequence writing until they kept count and finish writing about all their treats.

Data Binders Heaven

So this year I've decided to document and keep track of my students scores and academic progression from a different angle. I assign a binder to each student and we update and track our progress every Friday. Seeing I only have 11 students this year this allows me to successfully keep track of their progress easily. Every Friday they take their spelling, math, science, fluency and comprehension test. So far we only document and graph the spelling and math tests. I track my students fluency through DI. I will post another blog if my fluency tracker.

Centers Galore!!!!

My school is VERY BIG on Differentiated Instruction aka DI Centers. At first I didn't think it worked for my students but, once I was able to fully understand the concept of DI then I was able to see the benefits.

My DI Rotation Schedule

Because I only have 10 students, I see all my groups Monday through Thursday. However, when I had 23 students I STILL SAW each of my groups. Although I may steal time from science or social studies.

Listening Center
In the library area

Yes!!! The listening center lends itself to writing! After the students listens to the story the take out their listening center journals and copy the daily activity chart. The students write about something different everyday.

My Classroom

I like to recreate one part of my classroom each year. This year I chose my library center / student work display area. (I combined them) Indeed it was a HUGE task but it came out better than expected! Our schools theme this year is Jungle "Wild About Learning". I painted the library back wall, crunched up brown butcher paper for the trees and cut out TONS of leaves....oh!  and ordered jungle animal decals from amazon. The final product was amazing! (PS.....my WHOLE classroom is hot glue heaven!) 😊
